The Berkshire Valley Basset Hound Club is a group of Basset enthusiasts from the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania area.  Our meetings are open to all and are  held in the greater Bridgewater area  during March, May, September, November and two additional months,  scheduled as necessary.

In March we hold back-to-back Specialties; in the Spring and the Fall we hold Basset Field Trials.  We also participate in the AKC Meet the Breeds Event held in New York City (September) and the Canine Learning Experience held in Pennsylvania (January).  Throughout the year we also have at least one educational event.  Our meeting dates and details of our Events are on the Activities page of this website.

 

 

Our Mission

Our objective is

  1. To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Basset Hounds  according to the breed standard as maintained by the Basset Hound Club of America ,  and

  2. To do all in our power, as a non-profit organization, to protect and advance the interests of, and in, the Basset Hound.

The objectives of the Club shall be accomplished by:

  1. Conducting sanctioned and licensed Specialty Shows and Field Trial under the rules and regulations of the American Kennel Club, and

  2. By encouraging sportsmanlike competition and conduct at any and all events the club is eligible to hold.
